  • Day 1, Tuesday, May 3
    A Cead Mille Failte to the Emerald Isle is extended on arrival at Dublin Airport by your friendly driver and guide. After departing the airport we begin our adventure and will stop for a light brunch at the historic
    Man O’War Pub, a 15 th century public house and last stop for weary travelers heading north. We
    continue into the majestic mountains of Mourne, Saint Patrick’s Country, to visit the grave of Ireland’s
    patron saint and the St. Patrick’s Centre which tells his story. Then it is onwards to Belfast where we will
    check into our city centre hotel.

  • Day 2, Wednesday, May 4
    After our Irish breakfast we visit the Harland and Wolff Shipyard and the Titanic Experience where you
    will take a self guided tour of this top European attraction. Afterwards, we will visit the Belfast City Hall
    for a guided tour before undertaking a panoramic tour of Belfast which will include the Protestant
    Shankill Road and Catholic Falls Road. The remainder of the day and evening are at your leisure. You
    may wish to check out the Cathedral Quarter of town, home to many great restaurants and lively pubs.

  • Day 3, Thursday, May 5
    The stunningly scenic Causeway Coastal Route will take us through the Glens of Antrim to The Giant’s
    Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where a local guide will walk us through the Irish legend
    surrounding the pillars. We continue to Bushmill’s for a tour and tasting at the world’s oldest licensed
    whiskey distillery. Our final stop is the city of Derry where we will take an interesting and informative
    guided walking tour of the historic city walls. This evening’s dinner will be hosted at our hotel.

  • Day 4, Friday, May 6
    We travel to the small town of Ardara and visit the home of Donegal Tweed, Triona Design. Here you will enjoy an Irish Coffee while learning the history of Donegal Tweed, including a weaving demonstration on a 200 year old hand loom. There will be time to shop for fashionable woollens and a selection of Irish knitwear during your visit. We then travel back into Northern Ireland to visit Belleek Pottery, home to Ireland’s oldest working fine China pottery where you will see artisans create beautiful pieces that hold  a special place in Ireland’s cultural heritage. Then we enter the romantic domain of WB Yeats and sites associated with the poet before arriving in Westport.

  • Day 5, Saturday, May 7
    This morning we travel along the Wild Atlantic Way into the rugged hills of Connemara for a guided tour of Kylemore Abbey, a monastery founded in 1920 for Benedictine Nuns who fled Belgium in WW1. This afternoon is free for you to explore the pretty town of Westport, a Georgian town famous for its stoned bridges, tree lined promenades and historical sites including those relating to the Pirate Queen, Grace O’Malley, a fearless leader who challenged the politics of the 16 th century and gender imbalance and bias. Shopping, of course, is always an option and Westport is renowned for local artwork and
    handcrafts. After dinner why not get out and enjoy a trad session at a nearby pub? Favourites include
    Matt Molloy’s, Toby’s Bar, and the Clock Tavern, to name a few.

  • Day 6, Sunday, May 8
    Today we journey south along the picturesque shores of Lough Mask and Lough Corrib to Galway. On arrival we will be met by a local guide who will entertain us with tales of local legends and characters in addition to providing tips on shopping, restaurants, and, of course, pubs!

  • Day 7, Monday, May 9
    This morning we travel further south along the coast to the pretty town of Doolin where we embark on
    a cruise to view the mighty cliffs of Moher. Back on dry land, we’ll traverse the lunar-like landscape of
    the Burren, one of Ireland’s most compelling landscapes. We will stop at Aillwee Caves where expert guides will accompany us on a cave tour that consists of a 35 minute stroll through the magical caverns that unveil the unique burren underground landscape. We will also visit the Birds of Prey Centre, home to one of the largest and most varied collections of birds of prey in Ireland. Back to Galway for dinner at our hotel. Perhaps venture out tonight to take in a pub, or two and some good traditional music!

  • Day 8, Tuesday, May 10
    Today we travel to Ireland’s hidden heartlands. We will make a stop in Athlone at Ireland’s oldest pub,
    Sean’s Bar. Considered to be the birthplace of Irish whiskey, your hosts will regale you with historic tales of the pub as you enjoy a taste of Sean’s own blend by the open-style turf fireplace. We continue to
    Dublin to spend the rest of the day and evening as you wish. Dublin is a great city for dining, music, and
    sights. Our city Centre hotel will make this much easier to do.

  • Day 9, Wednesday, May 11
    After breakfast you can use your 24 hour Hop on/Hop off sightseeing ticket of Dublin. Live guides will entertain you during your tour around the city where you can ‘hop on and off’ at Dublin’s famous sights and attractions. Another free evening to avail all that the great city of Dublin offers in dining and entertainment.

  • Day 10, Thursday, May 12
    First on the agenda is a visit to Glasnevin Cemetery. Our tour guide will educate us on the general history of the cemetery while we visit the graves of some of Ireland’s most famous heroes such as Michael Collins, Daniel O’Connell, Eamon de Valera and Luke Kelly, just to name a few. We then head to the distillery district for a tour of Pearse Lyons Distillery uniquely located in St. James Church in the Liberties Neighbourhood of Dublin. The afternoon is free for some retail therapy and relaxing to get ready for the early flight home tomorrow. Tonight you will be treated to an evening of delicious food and Irish entertainment in the private setting of the Long Boat Room at the 16th century Abbey Tavern.

Day 11, Friday, May 13
An early rise to take us to Dublin Airport.
West Jet departs at 9:00am arriving Halifax 10:55am; depart again at 1:00pm arriving St. John’s 3:18pm
